Högstaby fvo

The road runs alongside the lake for 17km, making which makes the district very accessible. Lake Överuman is large and deep places, with inlets and small islands as well as wide expanses of unbroken surfaces.

Summer fishing:
Arctic char move to deeper waters during the summer and can be more difficult to catch. Trout, on the other hand come closer to land. The fishing is best at the end of July and in August.

Winter fishing:
Högstaby is perfect for ice-fishing. The long sunny days and thick lake ice make May the high point in the fishing calendar.

Arctic char, trout.

Fish stocks:
Överuman has been stocked with bågeöring, a trout species which seems to enjoy taking the bait. After 10 years of stocking the lake, the results are encouraging and the original trout population appears to be growing in healthy numbers too.

Fishing licence can be bought in the villages in Högstaby fvo, look for special signs. Licence can also be bought at Berglunds Järnia in Hemavan (the hardware store). Boats for hire at Kåtavikens stugby +46 (0)954-360 18 and Strimasund +46 (0)733-57 18 32, you have to call them in advance and make a reservation.
